About Luna

Meet the minds behind Luna, and our vision for the future.

We built the app we wanted

It started because we wanted a simple way to track our cycles.

Everything we tried was busy doing something else, whether it was:

  • Running ads
  • Upselling at every turn
  • Oddly worded information that caused confusion
  • Making it hard to find the things about ourselves we actually cared about
  • A bubbly, almost childish look - more social feed than somewhere calm to land
  • A notification we don't remember agreeing to

It all felt off.

None of it felt built for the women actually using it.

So over a coffee at a local cafe, two best friends had a there has to be a better way kind of light bulb moment.

We realised we could do this. We could make the app we always wanted.

This idea then took on real roots, and we began forming and imagining what it could look like.

One of us is a software engineer, and the other brings the vision.

What did we actually want to see? We wanted it to feel like ours, to weave in the moon (maramataka), to draw on traditional ancient sciences, to have curated future insights and simple educational articles, with thoughtful notifications.

The maramataka, woven in from the start rather than bolted on.

After each brainstorming session, the vision was clearer and clearer.

We interviewed and surveyed people we knew.

We added, removed, and continuously iterated.

Everything you see, we looked at with a microscope - going through hundreds of rounds of testing.

Then our vision started to become a tangible reality.

Seeing the design, the welcome guide, the onboarding, the tours, the theming, the wording, the future insights, the graphs, the articles and the evidence behind every claim. It took on a real shape, and added to the flame inside us.

The home screen: your phase, your day, and one small suggestion.

After countless late nights, early mornings, long days and weekends spent pouring ourselves into every detail - details that most people will never consciously notice - it is finally here.

You may not notice any of it. But we hope you feel all of it.

Luna essentially tells you which phase you're in and what that means for today. Then it gets out of your way. We hope you love it just as much as we do.

And we're only getting started. There is a lot more we want to make - you can follow where it's heading over on What's new.

It's still early days. We'd love you to join us.- A&S, The Luna Founders

The rhythm you already know

Your cycle moves through seasons, each with its own energy. Luna helps you read the day and understand the season - so you can work with that rhythm, not against it.
